Ruskin Generating Station

Upgrading a Machine Age hydroelectric station requires site planning, heritage restoration and significant structural engineering challenges.

The Ruskin Generating Station is a 1930’s Art Deco facility still providing clean, dependable power to British Columbia. The most critical component of planning is the seismic upgrade that will enable the station to withstand a 1-in-10,000 year seismic event.

In addition to the engineering requirements, the project features interior and exterior space planning, a heritage restoration of the dam and a unique First Nations story along the new spillway and bridge. Ratio is proud to work with BC Hydro and its team on this significant piece of British Columbia’s industrial and architectural heritage.
